- Seriously you say you know that it's far away but I don't think you do. A gorgeous garden could be plowed over for a parking lot, a 200 yo oak could be struck by lightening. You really can't decide this far out. A good idea is to think about it next year at the time. Say you want to get married in May 2011, look in May 2010 to see what flowers are blooming. If this is your actual wedding day you don't want to go too far and since you'll be the focus the background doesn't matter much. An archway at the church, a fountain, a stone wall, a large tree, a walkway, a pond or lake. If you are getting pictures taken a month or so before the wedding, it will just be you and maybe the groom not the wedding party. The photographer will probably have lots of suggestions too. Base the pictures on your photography package and your wedding location. She will zoom in so much you will not see much of any background in the picture. One bush in a park matters, not the whole park.
- I took wedding photos in middle of Grand Army Plaza behind the arch, where the fountain is. They are lovely photos. Many, many people take them at the Brooklyn Botanic Garden. I see wedding parties doing photo shoots there all the time. And I know there is also a Queens Botanic Garden. It's not as big, and not as interesting to walk through, but I believe there is some kind of gazebo, and that people do take wedding photos there all the time. Mazel tov on your wedding, BTW!
