- It depends if money is an issue. A not so expensive way to celebrate the day would be to have a candle light pick-nick at one of your favorite spots. If you would like bring some of your favorite romantic songs and have it playing in the background. The more secluded the spot better so that after the food....well you can let the rest fall in to place.
- As he is a "he" and a boyfriend I assume he's straight. Steak, potato, high speed chase involving at least three local PD's and then extra-curricula activities to end the evenning (unless you are both in jail or in traction). Guys don't want swept they want excitement and an element of danger...Happy hunting
- I live in NY . New Yorkers are big foodies. You should definitely pick the place. when looking for a restaurant. read reviews about the chef, food, service and what the scene is all about. A phenomenal chef and a great scene make one Wonderful dinner. Check the Michelin, they have the highest reviews in the world. Also the Zagat is good too. If you were in NY, I would say go to the Asiate, Per Se, or Rainbow Room, They all have amazing views overseeing 80 miles from above and thereafter you can take a walk through central park or have one the carriages pick ya up...There are soo many possibilities.
- Take him on a cruise on the lake its called the odyssey & you can have a great dinner & dance under the stars!!
- I'm sure theres a Ruth's Chris Steak House around where you live take him there its amazing food and nice environment..very romantic!
- Check out a restaurant named Papillon in Skokie. It has like ten tables, the executive chef serves you....it is highly romantic.
- Smith and Wolensky's and drinks in the Hancock Building- totally classic
- How about a gourmet breakfast in bed? You could do it yourself or hire in a chef who does that sort of thing. I think this would be very romantic, and different.
- A candle light dinner cruise. If you are near the ocean how about a resturant near the shore. With the weather being so nice, it is the perfect time to dine outside. Or how about this. If it is within your price range. Make reservations and a nice hotel, stick to the weekend, the rates will be better. Also look into rates that are specials i.e. that will include dinner or breakfast. These are usually listed as romantic getaway. Then order room service (sometimes the dinner package is room service.) Get yourself checked in earlier and spread rose petals all over the bed and get the battery operated candles. Some hotels are non smoking and even candles will set off the fire alarm. Although that would definately be something to sweep him off his feet. (LOL). But you could probably get away with a few candles in the jar. Too see if you can get an ocean front view or city view. Also when checking in mention that you are there to celebrate something, you may end up getting an upgrade on the room or some breakfast coupons the next day. Wish him happy birthday from me and have fun.
- I'm not sure of where you live in Illinois, but here's the place you want to go: It's called the Bennett-Curtis House, in Grant Park Illinois. It's a very old home that has been turned into a place to dine, or get married. I used to live in the town north of there, and my neighbor got married there! It's a beautiful, historic structure, and it would make for a perfect birthday dinner!
