Any Idea's for a new backyard project? Plans included please?

Recently i've been interested in woodworking and construction. I found plans in a book that told you how to build a treehouse, but my dad doesnt think its practical. Now we have the idea of a Gazebo, but we cant find any plans. We're also considering any other small projects we can build instead. Any ideas are much appreciated. Oh, and were right on a river :P

2. maybe build an arbor you could grow vines and stuff on? we have one, it's really pretty when the clematis and everything blooms
3. You can buy blueprints for Gazebos and similar type structures. Either search on the web or explore local hardware outlets. I suggest you have anything you do reviewed for code compliance if you live in a city or town. Anything more than a minor building will require a permit and should be inspected afterwards for safety. Remember people are injured all the time because they thought only nails were needed to secure a tiny deck to a house only to have it collapse a year later. Stay safe.
4. i vote for the treehouse. i have one i built for my daughter when she was 9. she's now 14 and still uses it with her freinds. we have people over and the adults love it too. besides, you'll be a much better carpenter after dealing with the engineering and design problems that are part of building a treehouse. good luck
