Gazebo Designs

are you allowed to put up a gazebo in a public park?

We are planning a picnic in the summer for about 20 people, does anyone know if we are allowed to put up a small gazebo in the local park? Mainly for some shade. There would be no alcohol, loud music or anything. I have contacted my local council but no reply so far. Has anyone done this before, or know of the rules of what you are allowed to do in a public park? thanks xx

  1. Contact your local town hall.
  2. you should call the town hall again or go into the office to make sure
  3. There will be bound to be a jobsworth that quotes health and saftey regulations at you. Just do it anyway and make sure you are not in anyone's way.
  4. Just keep trying the local council. At the parks around here, you're allowed because it's the same as setting up a tent.If you can't get a hold of local council, contact the police and see if they have any ideas as to what the laws are regarding the park ?
  5. Yes but it is still best to contact your local authority to know some rules. As long as you will also get your Gazebo after your party, I can't find no reason to hinder this really great plan. They are great places for enjoying the breeze and admiring the view of the garden or the park. Gazebos provide shade against the harsh sun on hot days and shelter on rainy days. They serve as gathering places where people can get together to talk or have tea.
  6. You may not erect a gazebo with out the landlord's consent, in this case the council
  7. As long as it is a temporary structure, you shouldn't have problem. Try a portable shade canopy or, if there are trees or poles to attach it to, a shade sail. Both would work great and are portable.
