What is the password to the administrator account on a hp pavilion dv7 laptop?
I just got a new laptop, a hp pavilion dv7. I got the floor model from hhgregg and on the administrator account, it already has a set password. Of course hhgregg isn't open on Christmas, and it doesn't state the password in the manual.

- If you bought the floor model the Administrator password is going to be whatever the company you bought it from set it as, i.e If you bought the floor model from Bestbuy the employee's at Bestbuy will have set the password so that customers couldnt access certain parts of the computer, i would suggest calling whoever you bought the computer from and asking them what the password had been.
- If it's anything like how Best Buy does business, the password used for their floor models varies from store to store. Unless someone from that specific branch happens to see this question and responds, you'll have to just wait until after Christmas. Although one option you may want to consider, if you're impatient, is simply reinstalling Windows 7. It's a brand new system and it's already at its default configuration, so reinstalling everything from the Windows DVD won't cause you to lose anything. If your system did not come with an OEM Windows DVD, it probably has a hidden recovery partition that serves the same purpose. Plug in the AC Adapter and turn the laptop on, then repeatedly mash F10 at the HP logo screen until the recovery console appears. Follow the prompts and select to do a "destructive installation". This will wipe the drive and reinstall everything fresh, allowing you to choose your own administrator password during the process. Incidentally, a "non-destructive installation" is mostly used for repairing damaged files, and will keep all the existing accounts intact. Which means for the purposes of killing the administrator account, a non-destructive installation will accomplish nothing. @Paakai Liny, you must be able to log in as administrator in order to create a password reset disk. Since she doesn't know the administrator password, this is not possible. Also, since she has a brand new computer, she would not be using Windows XP in any event. Also, Password Recovery Bundle costs $1400, and I doubt she's willing to spend that kind of money. There is a demo version, but it only reveals user names. The demo does not reset any passwords.
