What is the normal battery life for an Hp Pavilion dv9000 laptop running Vista?

I am running vista, a T9300 Processor, 4gb ram, and the 8600 nVidia card. I get about 1% a minute, meaning my laptop at 100% charge gives me about 100 minutes, or an hour an 40 minutes of power. Is this normal? I Got this refurbished, and I want to see if I should send it back. Thanks!

2. it depends on the programs and if you use internet the more you use the less time you have
3. It depends on what you're doing with it. If you're doing word processing it would last much longer than watching, say a DvD or playing a game. The Battery on my Lappy can last 2.5 hours or it can last 1 hour.
4. depends on the type and size of the battery. Also have you set the 'power options' to reduce power consumption? Does the processor have power saving options (processor slows down to conserve power on less demanding tasks). Is the screen a 'low power' type? 1 hour 40 mins is typical with smaller battery and little power saving options. Over the years ive owned many laptops, the best gave me up to 7 hours battery usage. (this was a business build laptop, they are designed with different priority than home use build laptops and cost a lot more).
